Just a quick funny thing, trying to get into the habit of drawing out my ideas, no matter how dumb/silly.

Old Queen Doodles

I’m super happy that some folks liked my Queen drawings, so as a bonus of sorts, here’s some old warmup doodles and sketches of her! The April drawings are my first ever attempts at drawing her, the May drawings are messing around with eyes and expressions. I can fill entire pages with silly disembodied faces, don’t even tempt me.

Hail to the Queen

hoo boy finally finished, some sketches I did to test out those Stumpy Pencil brushes which got a little out of hand, but wow this was fun, just lookit how nice and pencily these look! Almost like the real thing!

another character from OFF, The Queen, with some uh, liberties taken. Wanted to draw these ideas out for a while. If you think this is ridiculous, this is uh, kind of the norm for OFF fans and their interpretations. If ten thousand people can draw four-eyed Batters and buff Zacharies, then I can draw Vader as an amorphous one-eyed tentacle-root monster. Hail to the Queen, baby.

Staticy Zacharie

 Ugly drawings from back in May which I meant to post way long ago but chickened out for some reason.
More weird OFF-inspired things.

I can’t remember where but I read that someone’s headcanon for Zacharie was that his face was never programmed into the game so under the mask is just static and glitchiness.

I thought that was cool so I took the idea and ran with it, since all my attempts at making a face for him  just turned him into Ugly McButtface (which you can see the remnants of here HAHA)

I did the static effect by adding about 50% Brightness Jitter to my Pencil tool along with my normal settings, messed around with it some too. (in photoshop that is)

looked up batting gloves and sketched some out, the stars aligned and helped me draw some decent looking hands for once!

and uh yeah, husky batters.

Messing around making a lovecraftian god monster thing based on a silly idea I had at the time. Who is he? Who knows, who cares.

Family Trip Sketch Dump

Finally got around to dumping the rest of my sketches from my family trip a few months ago.

I was working thru robot personality headcanons hence the writing - not sure why I tried to scribble it out, I was probably indecisive and felt it was subject to change even tho it really hasn't

now if only I could apply that personality to my drawings rather than repeating the same disembodied grumpy face ten thousand times. :|

tried to draw the technology behind his speed thus a poor attempt at a pelvic engine done without reference or competence

oh well, you get the idea, the engine powers his legs which are light and hollow, along with his arms to reduce overall weight. He'd also have a coolant system more advanced than the average bot since he builds up so much heat from friction.

oh yeah, my headcanon personality for him is basically as an 'Adorable Dumbass' - destructive, simple minded, naive and childish, but honest, very straightforward and sincere.

tried to make each bot as distinct as possible from one another, hence the leg designs.

Most of the time I was essentially trying to draw the robot masters with unique faces that could be recognizable without the rest of the head.

Oil Man is fun to go more cartoony with and Top Man's just a smarmy ball of fun. (the cleft chin one is Saturn)

I can draw everyone else better than the FLAGSHIP CHARACTER of this series, how depressing.

I thought of robots as Ponies until I thought Eh that's been done, how about drawing them as actual badass robot horses

which was a great idea until I discovered I can't quite draw horses but oh well.

I should try these again, Fire Horse looks pretty bamf.

I forgot to mention most of these family trip drawings were scribbled in an easy chair while watching TV at the same time, which explains the laziness.

I basically ran out of ideas when I got to Cut Man.

Doodles and E3 Thoughts

it's been getting uncomfortably warm lately, one day I doodled these as some stress relief and thought they were interesting.

woke up annoyingly early to catch the 7am Nintendo Direct the other day, so I doodled while listening to this spankin' new Vocaloid song Raspberry Monster while waiting for it to start. The video's pretty rad and I have a soft spot for girls who punch things so I drew this character and liked it, then spent most of the morning messing with it while crying blogging about all the E3 and Nintendo Direct news over on Tumblr. I'll draw her better some other time.

Speaking of E3 - good grief so much craziness! From Microsoft shooting themselves in the foot and Sony subsequently rubbing it in their faces, to new IPs and indie games like Watch Dogs and Transistor, to tear-inducing announcements like Kingdom Hearts 3 (GASP) and Smash Bros. 4, but here's the real kicker:

MEGA MAN! MEGA MAN IN SMASH BROTHERS! Quite literally a dream come true, despairing mega man fans are coming out of the woodwork and rising from their graves over this news! In one minute and a half trailer Nintendo has probably done more for the mega man fanbase than Capcom has in the past 5 years. I could write an essay on how great he looks and how wonderfully Nintendo has done him justice, but in short I'm just ecstatic! (please go watch the trailer it is amazing)

And what's more a Villager from Animal Crossing and of all things, the Wii Fit Trainer are also joining the fray! What a time to be alive! This is pretty much my first time seriously watching and participating in anything from E3, and I'm very happy I did! There's nothing quite like hundreds of people screaming with excitement over video games, no arguments, only joy. 

I'll definitely have to draw something in honor of some of these events, look out for that.

Now if I could even afford any next-gen consoles or games...

Elec Bust

A quick bust of Elec Man based on a request on Tumblr. Took the opportunity for some quick ink and color practice. Bonus sketch version.
I haven't drawn robots in a while and it shows. =/
I'll draw more Mega Man things eventually, I still have plenty of ideas and such.

Big Bad Batter Dump

Most of my drawings lately are sketches and warmup doodles done between actual work so I may as well post the best ones. 
Done over the past few months, I date almost everything because I like being organized and it's easier to see how I've improved.
Yeah it's more things from OFF whoops oh well

giving the batter weird eyeballs seems to be a thing among OFF fans so I practiced painting eyeballs and faces and such

personally I like drawing the ghostly "no pupils + hasn't slept in ten years" look

I was pretty proud of that portrait done in like 20 min

I tried giving him more eyes as a facial deformity or something but it wasn't turning out that well and gave up

I tried drawing cleft/exposed lips since I was still on a facial deformity kick

part of a larger unfinished sketch which wasn't very good

tried the white eyes thing on bad batter with a twist

they are aren't fully white, the irises/pupils are just a very pale grey and hard to see unless looking closely. I kinda like it

sometimes I mess around and draw loose and silly

those hands are interesting

This one's more fixed-up cuz I like how it turned out =]

All were done in Photoshop except the last one, which was done in Flash

only half a page so I added filler cake and me dying of embarassment

I've been writing down all the clues I find to help with the puzzles, luckily I've played enough adventure games to make this a habit

Everything here is all pen, no pencil, so I like how they turned out

I am steadily getting better at drawing men's hair, very good

I came up with the weird dress textures while scribbling around and going 'hmm let's try something' and remembering a book by one of my inspirations, The Towers of Numar by Michel Gagne

Something seems OFF

My first decent OFF fanart and of course it's a dumb comic thing.

I randomly thought of this while trying to fall asleep one night, and it took most of my willpower to keep from waking the whole house with laughter.

I have several pages of sketches about this game I'm planning to scan later today. Nah I'm not obsessed or anything ahahaha *fills ten more pages with OFF drawings*

Silly Things

 Some silly things I've been doing recently.

A silly idea I came up with when I thought of mispronouncing robot master names in silly voices.

Left to right: Quick Man = Quack Man, Air Man = R Man (or Arr Man), Jewel Man = Jew Man, Cut Man = Cat Man, and Flash Man = Flush Man

This is an inside joke - some Mega Man fans like to pair up Quick Man and Rock (Mega Man's actual name) so here's a dumb visual pun with my quack man.

This is quick and dirty fan art of the main character from a recently translated indie french game simply called OFF. (download and play it for free!) Basically, you guide a mysterious baseball player called The Batter as he journeys to purify the world by beating the crap out of ghosts and monsters. There's a lot more but I won't spoil anything.

It's gaining quite the fanbase on Tumblr and other places. It looks pretty awesome, I'm about to play it this very moment in fact! Be warned, it's rather dark and twisted from what I've seen.

Here's some Mega Man/Rockman fan art I've been doing lately. It's my own little interpretation of mega man's house-sitting sister, Roll!

During and after Mega Man 8 she looked like this for a time

   
I noticed she always had rather large bangs, so I thought it would be fun to exaggerate that and give her a more mature, mellow look. Maybe over the years she becomes a little less of  a coward and more of a big-sister-type for her hero brother? He could probably use the emotional support, I dunno.

Her original design is cute but I think I like her Mega Man 8 look a bit more, it's more fun to draw and simply adorable! If anything, her tank top dress + sandals would be her summer outfit and the long-sleeved one + boots would be more ideal for colder seasons. Err, if robots were actually bothered by heat and cold - I like to think most robots in the Mega Man universe are advanced enough to sense those kinds of things.
